One of my favorite quotations is credited to both Mae West and Helen Gurley Brown,
“Good girls go to heaven but bad girls go everywhere.”
I guess that one needs to define what being a “good girl” is. I perceive her as being a good and honorable person. She is honest, trustworthy, fair, decent, dedicated and loyal. She has standards and a moral code and adheres to them. She isn’t a liar, a bitch and she doesn’t sleep around. When she meets “Mr. Right,” she only has eyes for him. She respects him and treats him as an equal. The respect and loyalty should be equal.
I was always considered a “nice girl” but decided that if I wanted to “go everywhere,” I needed to be a wee bit bad. No one is perfect and I’m sure that even the saints had their share of sinning during their lifetime. Trangressions are a part of life. However, these should not harm another being.
Being a bit naughty is a part of life. I define naughty as being flirtatious, sensual and sexy with the man in one’s life. It’s wearing that classic black dress during the day but donning that corset and thong in the bedroom. That hug and handshake while in public translates into the Kama Sutra in the bedroom.
Being “nice,” after all, doesn’t mean that one is being prepped for the convent.
In my novel Special Angel, Angelique is raised in a convent and being prepared for life as a cloistered nun. Her life takes some interesting twists and turns. When she meets Brian, the journalist more is uncovered than just her secrets.
Yes, even “angels” can be a bit naughty!
Are you naughty or nice?
